if death claims her. It is a very troublesome question to me and I cannot answer it and I want you to help to consider it, but don't let it worry you, but let us consider these things, for there is a possibility of her death. if not death, an invalid for life. I think from a letter she wrote me at Thanksgiving, she is engaged to marry a dentist. This is a comfort to me to know she is not without a dear friend in that far away land.

No 3 -

I wrote a letter to her yesterday as soon as I received it, telling her to keep me posted as to her condition & etc. I also wrote to Katie Ballard, Supt of the hospital, to write me and tell me all about my daughter and keep me posted as regards to her condition. I do wish you could go to her; but again, is it necessary? If not, don't let us think of it; but what shall we do if she dies? That is the question

No 4 I telephoned to Mary L. yesterday, immediately after reading the letter, and told her to tell Archie she said she would and to let her know if I heard from her again. They are now all living together in a new house nearly oposit, [sic], the Wade Park School Building. Katie wrote about two weeks ago to, [ lend, send ?], her the Webster's Unabridged Dictionary her father gave her. A few days after, I went out to Archie's to get it and he said I should not have it, as it was his. I told him it never was his and he never paid me one

no 5 cent for the books and did not even pay me for the bookcase and we argued the case at quite a length. He cursed me, awfully, and ordered me from the hous [e]. I told him I was ready to go and never come again, but I wanted Katie's property. Sade and him bothe, [sic], said I could not have it. I told them I would write to Katie immediately about it and I did. And you will see by her letter how she felt. I received your card in due time. I hope you are well and that I may hear from you soon, your affectionate Mother in haste. over
