Dear Miss Hartzell:

Was very, very sorry to hear of you being so sick. It's a shame I hav'nt answered sooner, but we expected Dr. Hoffman to examine us tonight and I've had to study like the mischief but he failed to show up at all. I've been having it dreadful hard on this front, every room full. Miss Caldwell has 45. Miss Stelling has 39. I have all the rest, 40 the [laparotainy ?]. took with cramps. We thought, every night, she would die but, is now feeling better. Mrs. Switzer is in 43. Got a telephone to meet her with the ambulance at the station. We all thought she must be nearly dead, but the same old spells (she) had before. Miss Kilgore has been moved back to Mrs. Switzer's room. Of the two, Miss Kilgore is the worse. Miss Niles has such cramps tonight. Had to go off duty & go to bed. Miss Hibbotts has been off duty for more than a week
