Boston {January} 7th 1763

Sir

I {Received} your favours, of 11th {August} 7th & 9th of {September} copy
of which I sent to Mr Gerrish, & Inclosed is his answer, I {Received} yesterday
to which Refer. I send you also Copys of two other letters for your Information.

Mr. Winston writes me, the Provision shipt to Chignecto, arrived
safe there, and is what will last him till Mid summer & that the Bread
from Annapolis proves much better than Expected, that with the Help of
the French, will find no Difficulty in Issuing it. I am very glad to hear this.
I hope also it will Turn out better at Annapolis than Mr Williams Expect-
ed, he writes me he has Fifty French Come into Winter & Desires more
Pork & other species, & some fresh Bread, for the officers, which I propose
to send as soon as the season will permit, and as I am Considerably in
Advance for you, shall soon send you the {Account} thereof, as also the Charge
of agency from Mr Steel's Death to Mr Williams's Taking Possession of
the stores. Mr Miles Greenwood, by the Officer's Order, Issued the Provisions
from 22d April to 16th May, Charges £6.5/ when Mr Dyson, by Mr Gerrish's
Order, Took Charge of the Provisions, & he Charges Agency, from 16th May to
6th July following. Both these {Accounts} I have Engaged at last to pay, for Steel's
sallery can be paid no longer, by the Crown, than to the Day of his Death; and
when there was no Commissary, you are by Contract to find one. I have
paid Mr Gerrish also his agency, £91, to 1st {November} Halifax Currency, and
Mr. Winslow's {Account} I Expect every moment to the same Time.

I wrote you the 14th October, where you had lists, Viz't to
14th June to 11th July, 12th July to 9th {August} & to 5th {September} 1762. Authenticated
by {Captain} Cromartie, & the seconds by {Captain} Bully to Exeter, where were
several Copys of Mr Gerrish's letters.

{Gentlemen}

The foregoing Confirm Copy of our last, and now Inclose
you Matthew Cumming's Power of Attorney to you, whereby you will be able
to Recover the Money for his Bill, which Desire you will obtain. You will ob-
serve you are Empowered to substitute any Person in Scotland, which will be as
Authentick as one Direct from him. You will please by several opportunitys
to let us know when you Receive it, & send an {Account} of the whole Charge, with
the Damages & Interest to the Time it's paid. No {Account} of the London ships.
If possible send the Powder wrote for & if no other Method, can't it be sent as ship's
stores, we much want it.
