I wrote you by Capt Marshall of 21st Dec[embe]r & since
by Hunter, & Gordon Via Bristol, by the two last I wrote for
Insur[an]ce on Scott, w[hi]ch hope you will Rec[eiv]e Capt Marshall
had such a Constancy of fine weather & fair Winds
for near Twenty Days after he sail'd, that I think he will
be with you in a Short passage, & I cant but flatter myself
that at this Date he is near England.- This I hope you
will Rec[eiv]e by the Brigt Lydia Jas Scott, Mas[te]r who I have
Cleard out at the Custom House in the same manner
as Marshall, I have Loaded him as well as I could
under the Circumstances I then was, the Detention
of the Cast away oyl was unlucky, not know[in]g when it
would be here. I had purchas'd a larger Quantity
of Naval Stores than I otherways should have done,
& was on board & Stow'd away that I could not Take it out;
however the oyl did arrive, & I immediately fill'd
up Scott with it, tho he could not Take the whole,
but I acted for the Best & for the Sake of Dispatch I now
Inclose you Bill Lad[in]g, & Acco[un]tt of Cost of Brig[antin]e Lydia's
Cargo, except the Pott ashes w[hi]ch is on J H own Acco[un]tt/ to
your address, 9/16 on yo[u]r Acco[un]tt & 7/16 on my Acco[un]tt the whole
Cost of w[hi]ch is £3363.3.9 Lawfull Money; you will please
to Credit my Acco[un]tt with you with £1418.16.10 1/2 Sterl[in]g, being
Cash paid by me for your 9/16 of this Cargo in Boston
the produce of my 7/16 of this Cargo you will please
to pass to the Credit of my Acco[un]tt. I hope the Brigt will
arrive safe & meet a good, Markett, pray obtain the
best price for the Whale Bone it is very good, I have
had it by me sometime, I hope it will neat a
good profit ~

I also Inclose you Acco[un]tt of Cost of Boston Packett's
last Cargo in thirds with you Folger & Starbuck & myself
amo[unt] to £3820.2.7 Lawfull Money, one third the produce
of w[hi]ch you will pass to the Credit of my Acco[un]tt. you will
also please to pass to the Credit of my Acco[un]tt £955.0.7/2 Sterl[in]g.
being Cash paid by me for your third Cost of Boston
Packetts Cargo in Boston.

You will please to observe by the Invo[ice]
there is a quantity of Head Matter I have Shipt by Scott.
