Description

An infectious disease caused by the bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes, most commonly the result of "strep throat," with a characteristic scarlet-colored skin rash. Sometimes valvular heart disease follows such strep infections. Aka scarlet fever, ulcerated sore throat.
