absorbents

OverviewVersions

Description

Capillary blood vessels that absorb fluid into the blood. Absorbents were thought to function in opposition to the "exhalents" (the "secretion" blood vessels). The term "absorbents" was sometimes also applied to veins and lymphatic vessels because they both deliver fluid into the arterial system.
