1793 Philadelphia yellow fever epidemic

Between Aug 1 and Nov 9, more than 5,000 people were listed in the official register of deaths, and the vast majority of them died of yellow fever, making the epidemic (in a city of 50,000) one of the most severe in U.S. history.
