To the {honorable} the Senate & the {Honorable} House of Represen tatives in general Court assembled {January} 1799 the President & Fellows of Harvard College humbly show [?] that on a carefull Review of the Act of the General Court providing [?] for the Establishment of two permanent Tutors at the University in Cambridge the Corporation are of Opinion that some alterations in the said Act would be beneficial previous to carrying the same into Effect more particularly respecting the Term for which the said Office shall be held to [?] for Life or during good Behaviour there being other Disqualifications for such an office which they concieve [sp.] ought to be assumed to vacate the Same which may not arise from the Removal of the Incumbent by Death on what may be strictly denominated Misbehaviour they may the {Honorable} Court to cause the Same Act to be reviewed & such alterations made therein as to them [?] may seem fit & as in Duty bound to -
