Here perhaps, some feeling the want
of this necessary grace, will in-
:quire concerning the means to attain it

Means of sincerity

The first mean is for a man always
to possess his heart with the appre-
:hension of Gods presence, & so keep
it in his fear continually, to walk as
Enoch did with God, as being in his
eye, & with Moses seeing him who
is invisible. Walk before me, saith
God to Abraham, & be upright. first
walk before me, set thyself in my
presence, behold my all seeing eye
& then be upright. This apprehen-
:sion of Gods presence will quash
& crush even the very first risings
of hypocritical thot.

A second mean is diligently to re-
:view all our works of obedience as
once God did his of creation & to ob-
serve the peace & comfort of conscienc
which we find when we do a good thing.
with good hearts, as on the contrary
the trouble & disquiet of mind when
we do otherwise - And withal when
we take ourselves thus tardy, in an
