Total 2132 1/2 m.
Pleasant, rather windy day. About 60° {degrees}, A.M.
To-day I have got ready some school work
for to-morrow, as work begins again then.
Wheeled to Brookline, via Cambr.'port this AM
and saw Lar Volkman and his new Imperial
Wheel. He rode back part way with me.
This P.M. wheeled some, and called on Dr. Robinson
& on Mrs. Rand. Rand has gone to Phila. to
get rid of a bad cough. Total distance to-day 16 m.
On my return yesterday, I found a Postal from
Dr. Morong. He mends his slowly he says.
Letter from Mr. Bebbe too. He is at Demorest,
Ga. and expects to return home on the 9th.
Miss Putnam sends me a green rose, a most
peculiar plant. I have written L.H. Bailey to
tell me about it. The rose is green, petals
and all.

Wheeled to school & back. Wheeled also to the
Herb. and saw Robinson. Found that the Green Rose
sent me by Miss Putnam is a greenhouse, permanent
monstrosity, called Rosa viridiflora. Called on Dr. Goodale
and had a chat. Proof of my Paper on Glass Models has come.
M. & I went to Col. Higginson's lecture on Fugitive Slave
Cases in Boston, with special reference to Anthony Burns. Very fine.
