M. & I walked up to Fresh Pond. Fields
white with Aster vimineus.
Lycopus sinuatus, Ell. Low pasture ground.

Oct. 5 — Cambridge Mass.
Sunday. Clear, glorious day. This P.M.
I strolled over the salt-marsh back
of Cambridge Cemetrary. The dying vegetation
shows the approach of winter. Large
orange-colored patches of a short grass
were Spartina juncea. Spartina stricta,
Solidago sempervirens, Ginger, the former
quite dead.
Gerardia maritima Raf. } Salt marsh.
Plantago.

Oct. 12 — Cambridge, Mass.
Clear, cool. This A.M. George, M. & I walked half way
round the Pond. The fountain was lashed by the breeze making a
fine show. Mounted some plants yesterday & to-day.

On the P.M. of the 18th drove to Arlington with Elinor & Kitty Thompson.
M. & I. took tea at the Lamberts on the 18th. This P.M. I walked
to Fresh Pond.

floating on the water or en-
tirely immersed. The akenes
are coming off now. I call
it dead-ripe —
