The plant approaches to this Alsine Segetalis? {Marsh Chick weed or Chuck weed Vide Lin Syst. Veg. Corn

The corol is not so long as ye Calix. Otherwise answers very well. The number of filaments is very uncertain — from 2 to 6 or 7 —

The leaves are roundish — some what awl-shaped — Appears some what like Hampshire Blossoms purple. On dich-banks in ye marsh — found it near Esq {Esquire} Patch's Gate. —

Augst. 15th Lobelia Dortmanna (Water Spinnet)

This species of ye Lobelia I have described by mistake as ye Lobelia pinifolia — but it perfectly answers to ye Dortmanna — having two cells in each leaf — Grows at Becks pond

Augst 21st 1786 Cacalia — (19 Class — Poly. Equ)

Agrees in general — but — Cal. Com. one small leaf or prop at ye base, may be sub-calyculatus — has only 4 leaves incumbent at ye base —

Corol — only 4 florets in any of ye umbels — but ye No. ye same as ye leaves of ye calix —

All ye rest agree well

(27) I think it must be a new spec. on acct of ye No. of florets being only 4 — but ye other characters do not agree with any of Linn:

Stems twinning, — has no tendrils — some what quadrangu =lar — jointed. climing on shrubs Leaves opposit — between heart & arrow shaped. very much acuminated at apex ye 2 points at ye base some wt cut off — like Convolulus. # leaf stalks rather long quadangular — at ye Joints — Stems of ye umbels long rise from ye axil — of ye leaves — Umbels irregular. # Bluntly scolloped, so as hardly to be perceived —

Blossoms purple — in moist land. Wenham Causway towards Topsfield.

Pist — Germen oblongs — conic — compressed at ye apex — 2 Cells — ye division compr on shortest diam of ye apex. Stile filiform longer than ye Stama. Stigma 2 Valve flat — oblong — appears like a mouth with one lip projecting over ye other —& a throat below

Per. Capsule oblongo — conic — compressed at ye Apix — 2 Valves — division a cross
