My dear Warden Lawes:

I ma very sorry to hear you have been so
ill. It is good news that you are better. The Frienship
expressed in your letter is both very welcome and opportune.

Our Staff and the girls wish to thank you
for your hearty congratulations on their work. We are also
pleased that you told the Governor and the new Commissioner
that we have done our best for the war effort.

We shall use your appreciation as a stimulus
for better work, and try never to slacken.

It is your recognition of the power of
prisoners to contribute to sound community life which has
encouraged similar institutions all over the country.

The best thing in your letter is your state-
ment that you will come to visit us the next time you are
in Massachusetts. Speed the day.

Every cordially yours,
/S/ Miriam Van Waters
Superintendent
