hours while man took starter out, rewound & found spring to replace broken one. On our way thru Pt Arthur down to Sabine Pass where there were cabins. Cafe crowded to the doors with Beaumont school and others.

3-16 - Br. at place with oil workers playing slot machine - Floating oil rig off Sabine. Stopped at 1st place we could get to beach. Tinies. Lunch & afterwards found first violet snail! Quantities from then on to Gilchrist - Hshkg cabin. After dinner tried to get Hazel on phone from Dance Hall but no luck. Boiled snails. Got groceries. Only hot water was salt & in shower!
