motions; emotional feelings; recollections; fancied images; the double
sense of Brute effort and resistance (in which, the more nearly
pure it is, the more completely is the purpose of the exertion
forgotten. For example, one may be so occupied in pushing
with all his might against a door that he quite
loses his desire to have it open, though this was the
original motive of his pushing. I shall call any action
