Wensday 5th
Slept well all night head ach from a cold, received a paper from hom and a hymn in ballad form distributed them amoungst the men Bro Grant and Jualhia up to see Leiu Simpers of the 8th reg had a pleasant time with him and Capt Ireland came down the Potomak down the Bank of the Canal and crossed the Conaojie Creek at the aequdoc bought a spelling Book for one of my boys and saw some rebels that had just crossed over they had been in the woods for a week and they made good their escape the
Col and adujant (spent) some time with me in my tent this evening in pleasant conversation read the last chapter of the Hebrews
