Cold Process
Empty the contents of a can
of lye into a stone-jar or an
iron vessel add 2½ parts of
water extrememly careful of
using lye Stir until the
lye dissolve Set aside
until the temperature is luke
warm Melt 5½ lbs of clean
fat in a pan over the fire
until all dissolves
When luke warm turn into
a mould add the lye gradually
stirring constantly in order
to blend them well Stir
until thoroughly combined
