Washington Pie
chocolate cake
½ c butter 2 c sugar 4 eggs 1 c milk
4 tsp baking powder 2⅓ c flour ½ tsp cinna-
mon 1 tsp vanilla 2 squares chocolate
cream butter add 1 c sugar gradually
+ cream again, cream the egg yolks +
1 c of sugar combine mixtures, add 2 c of
flour to the mixture alternate with the
milk beating thoroughly between each
addition add the chocolate melted over hot
water + blend sift the dry ingredients
with the ⅓ c of flour + add to the mixture
fold in the egg whites beaten stiff
Bake in 1 hr in a moderate oven +
iced with cream filling.
