Take 1# of butter, and 1#
of sugar, beat them to
a froth, save the white of
1 for Iceing a wine glass
of wine, brandy and
rose water, a tea spoonfull
of cinamon & nutmeg poun
-ded fine, 1 pound of
sifted flour, add the flour
and eggs by degrees beating
it all the time, bake it
in a slow oven 3 hours
when iced put it away,
to dry

Queen Cake

is made in the same
manner; adding to this
quantity a quarter of a pound
of dry currants, picked
washed & well dry
