1 t cornstarch
2 T water
a little nutmeg
Pare, core and slice apples.
Mix sugar, salt and
cinnamon. Line large
pie pan or individual pans with
pastry, sprinkle with cornstarch
mixed with tablespoon of sugar;
add apples and rest of sugar
in layers. Dot with butter,
cover with upper crust, and
bake in hot oven, 450° F. for
10 minutes, then lower temperature
to 375° F, and bake until
apples are soft.
