Checker Board Cake 1 Part 2 1/2 cups sifted flour 2 1/2 teasp baking powder 1/2 teasp salt 2/3 cup shortening 1 1/4 cup sugar 3 eggs unbeaten 1 cup milk 1 teasp vanilla 2 squares of chocolate 1/4 teasp soda 4 tablespoons sugar 1/4 cup boiling water

1. Sift flour once measure add baking powder & salt sift together twice 2. Cream shortening, add sugar cream until light 3. add eggs, one at a time beat one minute after each addition beat well after last addition 5. Combine choc soda sugar and water. Mix well. add to 1/2 of batter t. arrange batter in 2 greased pans Bake in Modern oven till done.

Nesslerode pudding 2 eggs 1 cup sugar 2 cups milk 1/2 cup flour pinch of salt 1 cup crushed pineapple banana or peaches 1/2 cup nuts 1 cup cream whipped Make thick custard first cool add nuts fruit & whipped cream chill for several hours
