Bran Flake Bread

2 cups sifted flour; 4 tsp.
double acting baking
powder; ¼ tsp soda; ¾ tsp
salt; ⅓ cup sugar; 1 egg
well beaten; 1 cup sour
milk or buttermilk; 4 tbsp.
melted butter or other
shortening; 2 cups bran flakes.
Sift flour once and measure,
add baking powder, soda,
salt and sugar and sift
again, combine the egg, milk
and the shortening, add to
the flour mixture and
blend, add the flakes,
and blend these in well.
Grease an 8 x 4 x 3 loaf
pan and bake in a
moderate oven 350°F
for 1 hour or until done.
