In Richmond Hustings Court November 8th 1858. On the application of Archie Warren a free man of color emancipated since the year 1806, who desires to obtain permission to remain to remain in this Commonwealth and reside in this City, it is Ordered that the Justices of this Court be summoned to appear here on Friday next to hear and decide on said application. This deed of Emancipation made and entered into this Sixth day of February in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty eight, between Henry P. Poindexter of the County of Henrico of the first part Witnesseth: that whereas the said Archie Warren is now the Slave of the said Henry P. Poindexter and he desires in consideration of his faithful services and excellant character to liberate him from Slavery. Now therefore the said Henry P. Poindexter doth by these presents forever manumit, emancipate and set from Slavery the said Archie Warren, who is a black man, about fifty five years of age, five feet ten inches high, and do hereby invest him with all the right and privileges of a free man. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Sixth day of February 1858. H. P. Poindexter {Seal}
