In Richmond Hustings Court, October 17th 1859. On the application of Elizabeth Foster, a free woman of color, emancipated since the year 1806, who desires to obtain permission to remain in the Commonwealth and reside in this City, it is Ordered that the justices of this Court be Summoned to attend here on the fourth day of the next term of this Court to hear and decide on said application. A Copy Teste, Ro. Howard, clk.

Know all men by these presents that I Peter A Webster of the City of Richmond & State of Virginia from motives of benevolence and humanity, have manumitted and do hereby manumit, and set free from slavery my Mulatto slave Elizabeth and her infant son. The said Elizabeth is a bright Mulatto, aged about twenty three years, and is five feet eight inches in height. Her infant son is about eighteen months old and is named Clarence. I do hereby give, grant and release unto the said Elizabeth and her said infant son Clarence all my right, title, and claim of, in and to their persons labor and service, and of, in, and to the estate or property which they may hereafter acquire or obtain. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this third day of June in the year 1858. Peter A Webster {seal}

1858 Nov. 4 ack'd [acknowledged] in off. [office] by Webster & A.R. [Admitted to Record] at 9 3/4 A.M.

Recorded No. 7.3 "B" page 15 and Examined. Fee have paid

City of Richmond, to wit: In the office of the Court of Hustings for the said City, this 4th day of November 1858. This deed was Acknowledged by Peter A. Webster, a party thereto and admitted to record at forty five minutes page nine o'clock A.M. Teste, Ro. Howard, clk
