Know all men by these presents that
I Peter A Webster of the City of Richmond
& State of Virginia from motives of
benevolence and humanity, have manumitted
and do hereby manumit, and set free from
slavery my Mulatto slave Elizabeth and
her infant son. The said Elizabeth is
a bright Mulatto, aged about twenty
three years, and is five feet eight inches
in height. Her infant son is about
eighteen months old and is named Clarence.
I do hereby give, grant and release unto
the said Elizabeth and her said infant
son Clarence all my right, title, and
claim of, in and to their persons labor
and service, and of, in, and to the
estate or property which they may hereafter
acquire or obtain.
In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand & seal this third
day of June in the year 1858.
