The undersigned respectfully request the Court
of Hustings for the City of Richmond to grant
permission to George Sherman a free person
of Colour, to remain in the state and reside
in the City of Richmond. They have known
George for many years and know him to be of
good character and that the interest of the City
will be promoted by granting such permission.
Given under our hands this 25th day of
July 1859.
