You will like the one of me & Peter & you will see
what a tough little chap he is, with his thick neck &
strong chest. I don't think you will like or prize the
other one very much - but there it is. I think I look
a bit silly, but probably no sillier than any one else
in that sort of headdress. I have ordered some
more of the me & Peter one, which I will send
on when they come - together with a distribution list.

It is 12.0 o'clock pm, in other words, midnight! &
I have just heard the last news. The battle in Lybia
has now been joined & we seem to be doing very
well. The next few days should be very exciting &
perhaps revealing too. I am absolutely on pins, to
know what affect it will have on my eventual
return home. Which reminds me, darling, that
in your last letter but one - but which was actually
your last one - you asked me to promise
solemnly, not to do anything or take any action
which would get me into the fighting. And of
course I do, sweetheart - you can rely on that
& be quite sure about it. Even though I do feel
a bit of a fake, being comfortably in this place.
But I am by now sufficiently well disciplined
apart from anything else, to believe that one
just has to do what one is told in war & go
where one is instructed to go. I am not
