I leave off smoking I shall get fat and then thee
wont love me - so I think I'll stick to the old
pipe. - I am sorry to hear of Charleys illness
poor fellow, he sounds to have everything that it is
possible to have and live.

I hope some of you will be at the office tonight, and
so that thee will get the letter I sent thee Saturday, and
I hope it will set thy heart at rest about H. O,
dear love, I'm so sorry "my Anna felt like a baby
that day," because it was her being afraid for her dear
old [bear?]" that made her so and I hoped she had
done with such fears. - H. does not think we are
"united &c" it is humbug - put in for effect. Thee knows
just how much reason thee has to think so, Dear love
dont feel anxious about how this will end - thee knows
I wont see her. I'll return the picture sometime.
and if she will write more letters, they'll hurt no
one I guess. I wish thee was here.

I dont think there is reason to fear that thee has
inherited any weakness of the lungs. and I hope
has no such weakness. I'm sorry thy throat troubles
thee yet. most likely that is caused partly by [?]
over [?] in love of the material possessions we dont
like much, do we, I hope Dr. B. will cure thy throat,
and that he will be honest enough to tell thee just
what he thinks about thee. Yes, dear, do be careful.
For fear that where thee sees Mary thee'll think
I have been fibbing. I'll tell thee that my
cold has not been so well, but a little "worser" [?],
since Friday. But it is not a sick cold, only an
uncomfortable one. I'll be over it shortly.
