machine but I rather cleave to the Howe Improved but have got the same one I had when you were here The [Tabor] girls have got so they can play pretty well it is a very nice instrument they are all pleased [John] thinks [there] [his] [mare] crossed the street to speak to him than ever before & he thinks it is a good thing to have in the house Mary is very well & was white washing the back room last night they have papered their kitchen it looks nicely I must close so as to let Thomas have a chance - give my love to Rowland & Rowland write again when the spirit moves Farewell Jane Thos has backed out about writing as usual we are all pretty well this Saturday morning it has rained steady for two days past & we have been painting & we are pretty sticky I tell you [Lenora] don't forget Aunt Ann she speak about the dishes now & laughs as if she did a bright thing she improves some walking I think have not seen Aunt P in a long time [Lulu] is to work there Love to all Jane

had he writes in very good spirits & health I love to get his letters they are so jolly and homelike I think he yearns for home and Mary and it is very strange to me that he consented to stay another year I think [Buzzel] was glad enough that he could stay another year I made them a call last week they have got 26 little chickens & one of their cows had twin calves & their old sheep (they have but one) had twins - our old goose is sitting on 14 eggs we put 2 under a hen. hope I shall get down enough this year to finish my comforter [Eri] Morse has got 24 goslings Sophia Persons is in the interesting situation sh was in when we made her a call after [camp] meeting but she can't get ahead of [Lempie] Mary has spent about 2 weeks at home this spring I went over & made her a visit she wears her hair in curls & she has got to be pretty good [complect] on the whole she is very much improved in appearance & looks Wallace Gray is married I supposed he & Mary were engaged she was free to [page break] speak of him We have a very good girl this summer quite lively & knows something we have not got our house as near cleaned as Mary we have papered the dining room & my bed room I shall paint the kitchen floor soon I think Aunt Mary started Tuesday morn for [Amos] [Dwinells] will be gone for 6 or 8 weeks if they will let her she has been very good only she got so she wanted to go somewhere Dorcas is about the same as when you were hereon only poorer Samantha was down Saturday she thought she coudl see she had grown much poorer it had been about 8 weeks since she had seen her Austin & Sarah have a nice little boy & they think it is as cute as a little wagon I have not seen it but once I am having my old florence hat pressed into the [artless] I think I shall triam it with black I think I shall get [Lenora] a pique & trim it with fringed blue silk will it be pretty? We have not called on Jesse yet but intend to with Horace & Mary soon Celinda Vincent has got the Elias Howe sewing [page break]
