Assistant Quarter Master's Office, Head Quarters 2d Div., 6th Corps,

June 8th 1863.

Dear Mother:

Thine of the 1st instant, was received on the 6th and gladly to be sure. I hope thee will get over thy way of being so anxious about me if thee does not hear just so often. My health is still good and my place is far enough to the rear to be safe, tho' I am far from laughing at thee for such feelings. I do not know why I am so much blessed with health, for only a few months ago I never expected to be well, as I am,

now, indeed if I was allowed to [underline]live/underline] to now. One year ago my feelings were very differrent from what they are now.

My wrist does not [?] as much as it did and is as well as for eight months past I guess.

Our Division is once more before F.-burg, and passed Sixth and Seventh nights, over the River alone, so far as other parts of [underline]our[/underline] army are concerned. Last evening another Div. of our Corps relieved them and that is still a cross.

The Supply Train is Parked about one mile from the River in a safe locality.

I got a letter from Henry yesterday. He is doing nicely, once more. His late trouble, was partly owing to improper amputation, as a Splinter was left, which had to be taken out a short time since. He is now about as well as he has been since he went to W.

It is getting dark and I cannot see the lines. Please excuse shortness and haste. Write soon. As ever thy loving soon

W. B. Stevens
