Camp Parole. Annapolis Md. May 8th 1864

Friend Stevens,

I received you kind letter of the 7th and was most happy to hear from you. thear is no news here excepting the secret expedicition that went away from here have all returned. And the thing is [underline]Busted[/underline]! Robinson was here and all of the Boys who were in the 27 Hospt. Robinson has gon home on Furlough I dont think he will be back here as he is a western man. I am afraid I put you to a great trouble in trying to get the money I asked you for. I hope I can repay you in some way. we have been mustered for pay. I hope we will no get our legal tenders. Brooks send his regard to you he is the same old Boy full of dry jokes. I was sorry to hear that you had been sick but am happy to hear you arrived home safe. I supose [Madam?]

will be Back this week. Our Dear boy [Griscovoler?] hs been working down Town painting a house but says he is going to quit. I got my Pictures but Robinson [would?] have one and it was the one I intended to send you as I had sent the rest [awy?] but I will have some more taken and send you one.

I have no one to send my love to up thear but you so you can take it all.
