Resolutions adopted
"The Trustees desire to put upon record their appreciat-
tion of the long and faithful services of their retiring
President, Mr. Israel Munson Spelman.

Taking charge of the Cemetery Trust in 1874 he has gra-
tuitorasly and unwearingly continued as itt presiding
officer, and practically its manager, for more than thirty
years Holding this position so long, and during so
critical a time, his place in the history of the Corporation
is unique; and it is doubtful if any successor can
render services so important as his. During this time
he has seen the Cemetery become one of the largest
examples of a rural burial place; growing in plan-
tations and in gardens year by year, Similarly the
cares and responsibilities of its aggregating capital
and business have required, and have obtained at his
hands, honorable careful and constant supervision.
