The Graduate Council is responsible for establishing policies for the effective operating of graduate studies.
Operation:
The graduate facult is composed of faculty members from the three major undergraduate schools of the college, namely: the School of Agriculture, the School of Engineering and the School of Education and Science.
Function:
The Graduate Schools fills the ap between college graduation and the need for further study among Negroes in the state and in the Southern Region. It also has the function of improving the competence of the of the Negroes for rendering educational service to the state and the South. In performing this function the Dean of the Graduate School serves as the coordinator in directing the total graduate program. Administratively, it functions as a seperate educational enitity.
Some Accomplishments:
Since the establishment of the Graduate School in 1939, 162 students have been awarded the Master's degree. Most of these graduates are serving in the state of North Carolina, as teachers, principals, supervisors, county agents, self-employers, and the like.
A few of its outstanding graduates are:
1. Mr. S. B. T. Easterling---Principal of the Ellerbe Negro High School. He is also doing advanced study towards the Ed.D. at New York University.

2. Mr. E. E. Waddell---Principal of Albemarle Negro High School. He is pursuing work toward the Ed.D. at New York University.
3. Mr. Robert Hardin---Principal of the St. Pauls Negro High School.
