June 7, 1944 Wed. Noon. UNITED STATES NAVAL TRAINING & DISTRIBUTION CENTER. CAMP PEARY. WILLIAMSBURG. VA. Norfolk Va. Hello ma, How is everybody there? Fine I hope. Well we got in here yesterday. Boy! This is heaven to Camp [?Deary?]. But I won't be here now longer, so don't write till I tell you to. Tell Sam I went across at ferry boar like we did that Sam. Last year. I went in the town of Norfolk last night. Got in about 2 o'clock this morn. ha. It has been so long since we had liberty we didn't know what to do with ourselves. These planes are keeping so much fuss around here I can't hear myself write. ha ha. I guess you though you

When you don't hear from me often don't worry about me, it isn't good for you. ha When have you heard from James? By the way they say the invastion has started. 1/ June 28, 1944 Hawaiian d. Dear mother, I guess you got the telegram I sent you. Were you supprised? I'll bet you were. Well it has been about a month now since I heard from anyone I got one card from you, and that is all I have since I left home. How is everyone their? Fine I hope. Guess you are also supprised to heard I am in the Hawaiian Islands. One thing rhey have summer time here all the year around. Tell the girls to write as soon as you get this. Because I might not have time to write them right away.

2/ Tell old Sam also. If he can stay home long enough ha Mother how about the man that got drown? Was the boy really Charlie boy? When have you heard from James? and Glenn? Did he ever write me? Have they even heard from Milland? I left him in Camp Peary. Mother ask Sam if he has seen my girl since I left. The one in Henderson. Well that is about all I have to ask this time.
