up there. I get caught every time by some
officer, drunk, who wants to talk about
something. I shot billiards for a little while.
This is about the only thing which seems to
soothe my nerves at all.

By the way, I have bought a good Japanese
camera which takes 120 films. Pass
the word along and have everybody send
me 120 films and I'll send you a lot
of pictures of Japan and even a few of
me. I can't get them here so until you send
me some I am stuck for taking pictures.
This camera would be worth $50-$75 in the
States but I got it very cheaply here.
My job got me down so bad about 2
weeks ago that I wrote to Gen Royall again.
Perhaps if he really were as interested as may seem to indicate to you, I might get a
transfer. Just the bare hope of a transfer
gives me a measure of hope which I haven't
had for a long time. Honey, I've really
been scraping the bottom of the emotional
barrel for a couple of months now. Dr.
Holman & Dr. Berryhill are after me to
come back to Chapel Hill almost at[?] my
own conditions and I can't even get
a job in an Army lab. The fall
or winter of 1946 is the nearest time
I can see to be demobilized. There is
absolutely no chance of getting home before
then.

Honey, I am beginning to get my medical journals.
Did you pay John Meale for them? The first issue of the Journal of Am. Med. Assn.
came and I got a notification that the
J. of Chin. Invest. was sending me copies.
