A meeting of the Executive Committee was held this day at the Headquarters of the Society

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Secretary and upon motion adopted.

1 The Counsel of the Society reported that the President, Mr Bergh, had been charged with contempt of Court in addressing a letter to the Grand Jury. The matter had been fully argued in the Court of General Sessions before [Reender?] [Hackett?] and the [result?] was the discharge of Mr Bergh.

The communication which the President addressed to the Grand Jury referred to the case of "left Carpenter" a dog fighter, after they had failed to [illegible] a [true?] bill against him. Subsequently the case had been brought before another Grand Jury which had promptly indicted the man.
