4 Produced the following bill relating to the shooting of pigeons. Mr Gerry stated that his attention had been called to this Act, while at Albany; and he had thought it advisable to offer no opposition to the same.

An Act

In Relation to The Treatment of Animals

The People of State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows :

1 SECTION 1. None of the provisions of law heretobefore enacted for the pre
2 vention of cruelty to animals, within this state, shall be construed to prohibit
3 or interfere with the shooting, by members of incorporated [illegible] clubs or societies, of pigeons,
4 provided that, in each case, as soon as they can be captured or taken, after
5 being shot, such pigeons, if living, shall immediately be killed.

1§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
