A boat landed at Low Beach with 9 men in her, they informed that had belonged to the Brig [BLANK SPACE] from the West Indies bunt [BOUND] to Boston, loaded with Molasses, Coffee &c. Capt. [BLANK SPACE]
The [THEY] grounded on the Bass rip. Three men left in the small boat, which they saw upset & the men lost. The other boat left & got ashore as stated above. The Capt. owned ¼ of the Vessel and part of the Cargo, amounting in the whole to 10,000 and no Insurance.

The weather of late has been very droughty & the streets uncommonly dusty. The sand in sward land perfectly dry 20 inches below the surface. Small crops of upland Hay.
The Gardens has suffered by the drought.

Last night was a rain storm, with the wind southeasterly, which no doubt will promote vegetation wonderfully.

The market for Wood is very dull at this time, many hundred Cords lays on the Wharves. I never saw the Old North Wharf so much encumbered with Wood & other articles.

The weather has been remarkably dry for a long time. There has bery little rain fall for more than a month. The upland on the commons, looks with a reddish aspect, hardly any appearance of Green.
