1834 12 mo the house was very full. The report of the towns Committee was read, it was very lengthy & pertinent to the subject matter. Many remarks were made on the subject of Intemperance, which seemed to claim the serious attention of all present. It appeared the sense of the town, that persuasive measures had been tried in vain long enough, that the time had nearly come to put the law in force to prevent the sale of ardent spirits. The Petition to repeal the license law was then read & voted to be presented to Court by our representative.
It was voted at the same meeting that the Committee report together with the doings of the meeting , be published in the Nantucket Inquirer.

1835 1 mo The weather in general since winter came in has been cold and boisterous, short turns, frequent flights of snow followed by cold, which has sealed the harbor with ice twice this winter, but not so as to prevent vessels from passing. The wind has mostly prevailed to the northward and North easterly, which has very much obstructed the vessels from passing.

8th 1 mo The weather this morning bore every appearance of a storm, the wind was at NE & blew with violence with frequent squalls of snow & the weather very cold. We have not had so hard a gale of wind this season.
