17.10 Much easterly, still weather, light winds & the weather very dry; it is thought to have been the driest season that has been noticed for many years. The weather generally is very pleasant & warm. Some days more like summer than the middle of autumn.

21.10 There has been so much still calm weather & light easterly winds of late & for nearly a month back that our markets have been rather short of many things that usually are brought at this season of the year, particularly wood has risen to 7.17$. Fruit of various kinds has been plenty. Good apples 50 ct., Peaches 1.00 per bushel, Pairs [PEARS] plenty.

The main street down to the Cross Wharf is paving. Some call it Wharf, others call it highway, But the owners of the wharf refusing to pave down between the stores. It is now in operation & probably will be completed as lane as the Cross Wharf at the expense of the Town. Peleg Macy Jr. is the superintendent.
