10mo A new Ship called the [???] owned by Charles & Henry Coffin is fitting away.

23rd It is generally believed that we never had such an autumn before. The weather continues to be pretty much as it has been fro a month back. No rain of any consequence since the 7th of 8th mo. The weather remarkably warm for the season & very still, almost calm for many days together. Small easterly winds, with much thick fog which continues for a week or two without much alteration. Taking the whole together, the course of the weather is so that it causes a great stagnation in business. Very few vessels of any description comes.

23 Ther is only 14 vessels of all descriptions now at the wharves. Such an instance we have never known at this season of the year.

1st 11 mo A change of weather & a westerly wind has brought a large number of vessels here. I should think at least 50 since the 23rd of last month. Yesterday morning wind at NE & some rain which although not a great deal. it think it was more than we have previously had for 83 days. So little rain at this season of the year & to continue dry so long I think was never known before by the most aged.
