The rainy wet weather continues. Last night it was a hard rain storm nearly the whole time, wind at SE. I think I never knew so long a spell of stormy, wet, rain weather at this time in the year before. Some of the people whose dependence of fireing is Peat, have nearly lost it by the heavy rains and frost. It is said that in many places round the Island the bank is wash away, by the uncommon flow of the tide and heavy rain storms.
So that the Island is lessened considerably.

In the country westward of New York, the Storm was so hard as to stop the passing of the Stages. In one instance the women passengers were confined in the Carr [CARRIAGE?] 17 hours, the roads were so banked up with snow.
