to the right, by-pass all opposition, and force march all the way
to a height overlooking the little French town of Pont-en-Bessin,
which was marked on the map as point 72. Here they were supposed
to meet the Americans and the following day drive on this little
French port.

Lovell's outfit had two jeeps - one wireless and one for the
C.O. - neither of them got ashore. For the names of these people
refer to his own diary.

At the final briefing they were told that they were to avoid
contact with the enemy and head for point 72; says Lovell "it was
made to sound dead easy". He said to Andrews "it all sounds dead
easy. We'll be back in Southampton by the end of the week".
