Ohio University Record, Meeting___June 7, 1930___

The term of Wilson McKee, Athens, expired on May4, 1930;
Jacob G. Collicott, Columbus, was appointed to suceeed Mr. MeKee for a tern of seven years.

To complete the unexpired term of the late Fred. W. Bush, the appointment of his son, Gordon E. Bush, Athens, was made.

The following Committees of the Board will serve during the coming year:

Auditing: Lash, Bush, Jones
Buildings and Grounds: Biddle, Collicott, Johnson
Finance: Hopkins, Davis, Biddle, Wood
Library: Wood, Jones, McVay, Holzer
Publicity: Johnson, Sheppard, McCune, Bush
Teachers & Salaries: Johnson, Eikenberry, Hamblin
University Conference: Thomas, Crow, McCune, Collicott

A unique feature of this meeting is occasioned by the presence of Robert E. Hamblin, Toldeo, who is serving his fortieth year as a member of our Board of Trustees.

On July 29, 1929, at Otto, New York, Dr. William Fairfield Mercer, who since 1900 has been a valuable member of the Faculty as Head of the Department
of Biology, was killed in an accident. In the death of Dr. Mercer, the University
has sustained a great less. His Department had gained distinction throughout the country; and the fine record of the students who went frem his Department into graduate and professional studies in other universities has done much to establish the good reputation in academic circles that the University now enjoys.

The position made vacant by the death of Dr. Mercer was filled by the appointment of Dr. Frederick H. Krecker - Ph.D. of Princeton. Dr. Krecker came to us from a head professorship at Ohio State University.

I have the honor to make recommendations, as follows:

1. I have the honor to request approval of the Repert of the Committee on Teachers and Salaries, as fellows on separate sheets attached.

2. I have the honor to recommend the conferring of degrees and diplomas upon students in regular courses of study, as fellows on lists attached.

3. I have the honor to recommend the conferring of an honorary degree, as fellows:
Doctor of Laws (LL.D)

Myers Y. Cooper..........Columbus, Ohio

4. I have the honor to recommend an increase in term fees from Forty Dollars a semester to Forty-five Dollars a semester.

5. I have the honor to recommend that, beginning with the opening of the academic year 1931-1932, all students not residents of Ohio; entering Ohio University for the first time shall be charged twenty-five dollars each semester in addition to the regular term fee required of resident students.

6. I have the honor to recommend that the A.L.E. Fee be increased to Eight Dollars for the first semester of the academic year 1930-1931, provided the fees available for Personal Service will warrant sueh inerease.

7. I have the honor to request the Board to approve an appropriate inscription or name for the University Library.

8. I have the honor to recommend the increase of salaries of members of the faculty of the rank of full professor from Four Thousand Dollars to Four Thousand Four Hundred Dollars for the regular academic year of two semesters, as soon as the income for Personal Service, either by appropriation or term fees, or both, is large enough to meet such increase without a deficit.

Respectfully submitted,
E.B. Bryan
President, Ohio University

President Bryan addressed the Board concerning the new appointments and reappointments to membership on the Board of Trustees. He also referred to the attendance during the past year as having materially in-creased.
