My dear Son,
I received your letter of the
2nd instant, enclosed in Mr. Brown's. It
is the only I have received since
you left home. You must write oftener
as your letters give us a great deal
of pleasure. You must take great
pains to write well & to spell well
& to use capital letters in their
proper places. There is room for
improvement in all these particulars.
Consult your dictionary when you
are at a loss how to spell any
word. You have a fine opportunity
to learn & I hope you will improve
it. Pay great attention
to your behaviour. Do no mischief
& be very respectful
