Andover Dec. 17 1833.

Mr. Baker

Dear Brother

I recieved your letter
last August, in which were directions concerning
coming on to New Haven in order to enter
college, I was very glad that you put yourself
to so much trouble, as to write directions, but
being advised by Mr. Johnson, I determined,
soon after I received it, to remain here another
year, enough remains of the Senior Class to
form an advanced class; we have during the
last term read some of Cicero's philosophical
works, and part of Homer's Iliad. Mr. Johnson
health failed about three weeks after the term
commenced, and has not been into the school
since. Mr. McLane then heard our class the
remainder of the term - Mr. McLane is married,
married during this vacation, to a lady
from [?]. Our term commences to morrow.
Mr. Johnson intends to go in again, as he
has in a great measure recovered his health
I expect now to come to New Haven the
first of August next with the same
directions
that you gave me last August
