O My dear Brother, Must I tell you our respected and affectionate father is dead ; I have this evening received the affecting and melancholy intelligence, that we are to see him no more in this world. Our brother Calvin had but ^ a few days to enjoy his society and to - comfort him before he was called upon to bid him adieu, and to pay him the last sad offices of respect. He died wednesday June 22d was buried Thursday the came week. O that my head were waters and mine eyes a fountain that I might weep, for what? that I cannot again call ^him back to this world of misery? Wo! but that I might wash away in a fountain of contrition the iniquities of my life that have made me so unlike ^what I trust my father was. To weep is lawful, but let us do it with resignation "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away and blessed be his mame, Oliver Baker P.B. Calvin wished me to write to you and to Samuel and to Uncle Edward and mention this death.- I wish you would write to Samuel instead of me and I will write to Uncle. Write to me soon and much Adieu.
