Dear Father

I now take up my pen to adress [address] you for the second time since you have been at Washington. I am in good health hoping you [an?] the same. I room with Ben & Levi Hoppin & a student in the institution. I wish you would send me the [newspapers?] for I want some employment for the long Winter evenings for although I study an hour & an half & I begin at 6 oclock I have a great deal of time. I am almost through the 1st Oration against Cataline [Catiline] in Cicero. We have fine skating here & the boys have fine fun [?] last term [we] had nothing to do. I wrote a letter home the other day. There are about one hundred and ten sholars [scholars] in the Academy Now my dear Father I have wrote all the news & I now [subscribe?] myself your affectionate son

Andover December 21st

My Dear Father

I recieved [received] your kind and affectionate letter of the 12 inst yesterday.

I am in good health hoping you enjoy the same blessing. Mr Adams has been very ill ever since since saturday he was in such pain last night that he took hold of the bedpost and broke it of [off?] short his wife thinks he is dying. I got through the first orotion [oration] against cataline [Catiline] his morning. I like to study Cicero very much. Levi and I have agreed with the consent of our parents to get a horse & chaise to go home in at the end of the term it will cost us but [3?] dollars a piece 1.25 cheaper than we can go in the stage. There is a boy here by the name of Dexter who has [got?] a complete set of carpenters instruments which cost 9 dollars I wish you would get me a set of thhem [them]. Now my dear father I have wrote all the news and I subscribe myself your affectionate son

Dear Father

I recieved [received] your kind and affectionate letter of the 19 inst last Friday. I am in good health hoping you enjoy the same great blessing. Mr Hoppin is coming up for Benjamin & Levi and I am going home with him. Aunt & Amelia are coming up for me with him The term expires next Wednesday. If you have not sent the money to pay my bills and board will you send it to providence so that I may pay them when I return my board amounts to 72 dollars and my bills to $ 11,81cts. Levi has got a tame raccon [raccoon] we have good fun playing with it. I have got me a new piece it is Judge Marshalls Speech on the Death of General George Washington President of the United States of America. Mr Adams son is so sick that his father expects he will die his complaint is the throat distemper he got it by taking of [off] all His clothes and rolling ing in the snow I have not done it [nor?] shall I for I shall [take?] warning by his misfortune The boys here have a language I
