Andover Feb 3d 1853
My Dear Parents,
Nearly a fortnight has passed
away since I received the things from Home! How very
quick it has flown! It seems but a day or two since
the express man stopped front of our house, and took
from his wagon the pretty covered valise. I must confess
that you rather surpassed me in its covering, but
I had nothing else, and thought that would do better
than nothing to preserve its newness & beauty. Every-thing
in it was as safe and looked as well, as when it left Home
I think it quite an improvement upon the trunk both in
convenience and price - I was glad to hear you were all
in so good health; Health is a rich blessing which many
are deprived of and those who enjoy it should be thankful
to the beautiful giver of it - This leaves me enjoying its blessings
- My Chum returned Wednesday, but in a condition
hardly fit for studying, He is still lame & I fear if he
is not very careful will again be taken down. He has
had a pretty severe seige & looks quite thin - As for
other news I have but little, except that we are enjoying
the outflowing of God's spirit, An uncommon interest is
manifested in school, and many are seeking the Lord
to know - This is news indeed, good news, such as we
love to hear of - An inquiry meeting was held last sabbath
evening for the 1st time at the house of our Principal
Mr. Taylor - there were fourteen present, This number was
