My dear Son, My last letter
was mailed just before tea time
on Thursday so that you could
receive it on Sat. We were very glad
to hear from you on that day.
My heart is sad to think of the
last of my Father's family dead
and none to represent the old name
as it has been represented in the
past. Aunt P_ will soon follow,
and then there will be no survivors
of my Mother's family.

You must see to it, that you are
prepared to do honor to your
Father's name, for you are the
only representative of our branch
of his name. Did I tell you that
I sold our old [stove?] for $19.00 and
paid [?] for taking our [?]
with it. I shall send one to Cousin
Mathi Campbell, and one to Aunt
Cornelia. Shall keep the rest for ourselves.
You can have your copy in your
room at Yale, if they do not refuse to
take you. Are you [?] in all the
needful studies? How the weeks glide
by! School will close before we know
it. Take good care of yourself, my darling and
